Lixing Lin is a PhD researcher in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Alberta
Originally from China, Lixing moved to Saskatchewan in 2011 to pursue his Master's degree in Petroleum Engineering at the University of Regina. After completing his degree, he worked as a Research Technician in the Enhanced Oil and Gas Recovery and Reservoir Characterization (EOGRRC) group at the University of Alberta.
Since 2022, he has been pursuing a PhD at the University of Alberta, focusing on innovative techniques to improve oil and gas recovery while reducing environmental impact. His research contributions include:
Developing advanced enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques for both conventional and unconventional reservoirs.
Conducting experimental studies on fluid flow in porous media with chemical additives for heavy oil recovery. Innovating hydraulic fracturing fluid design and chemical EOR applications in unconventional reservoirs.
Designing projects in advanced petroleum engineering fields, including Production Engineering, Drilling Engineering, and Reservoir Simulation.
Creating a mathematical model for accurately predicting the saturation pressure of hydrocarbons in nanopores.
Authoring multiple manuscripts for scientific journals and conferences.
Lixing's work is driven by a passion for innovation in the energy sector, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and efficiency. Through his research, Lixing aim to contribute to advancements in oil and gas recovery while addressing environmental concerns associated with hydrocarbon production.
Besides academics, he is dedicated to educating and mentoring young students on energy and STEM-related topics through his leadership in various outreach programs.
